The other day, while shopping in a supermarket, I noticed a young woman. Her cart contained four bags of groceries folded in half. We ended up at the same checkout (she was in front of me, no, I didn’t follow her). She started unloading the cart, but she had quite a bit with her.
To be honest, I didn’t think I could fit all the food into those four bags. So I watched as the packer took the first bag of food and put more and more stuff in the first basket; took the second bag and put more and more stuff in it, so the bag was filled to the brim took the third bag and put the contents in it; Then she took the fourth bag and put the rest of the food in it; I was shocked to see the fourth bag remain empty when she had nothing left to put in it. I watched her unload four heavy-duty shopping bags from the cart instead of 25 plastic bags.
Instead of putting away a large number of plastic bags as I had done, she went home with four shopping baskets that she was able to store properly in a drawer until her next shopping trip.
