The term “doughnut” is self-explanatory and universal. In Israel, they are called “sufganiyah” and in Malaysia “kuih keria”. Yet it is a simple and tasty dessert with unique variations. It is famous for its special doughnut called “Boston Cream”, which also found its way to Pakistan and was curiously named “Nawaz Sharif”, after the former Prime Minister of Pakistan.
Now that we have explained the fame of this simple little dessert, what is a doughnut? A doughnut is made and baked with flour, but that alone does not make its doughnuts. The special thing about a doughnut is that you cut a circle in the center of the doughnut, which is actually a ring of flour. To make this ring, cut out a circle in the center with a doughnut-shaped cookie cutter so that the outside is perfectly round. You can also knead the dough into a rope and connect the two ends to form a circle. Different kinds and variations require different baking times, but that’s a whole other topic.
There are countless variations of doughnuts, the explanation of which would require another book. Fortunately, there are really only two types of this creative dessert. Brownie doughnuts and yeast doughnuts. Yeast doughnuts have, as the name implies, yeast in the dough, which puffs up and makes for a fluffy doughnut, but they take longer to cook in the pan and contain 25% butter. Cookie dough donuts, on the other hand, are made with a special cookie dough that requires less oil for baking but preserves some of the fat already in the dough.
The donut is recognized even without the cut-out center, but the center already mentioned is actually called the donut hole. This hole can be put back into the dough after cutting or baked and eaten as is. The Donut Hole has really become famous for these bite sized donut holes. There are many variations of donuts with or without holes. They can be decorated with icing, cinnamon, powdered sugar, or other sweets. Filled and unfilled donuts are also very popular. Add your favorite cream or flavoring and you’ll have a delicious, chewy doughnut. Donut holes are also popular and are sometimes treated the same way. There are also people like George Jean who “believe” in the classic donut. An actor without a playwright is like a hole without a donut.”
In the United States, where they are known as spelled donuts. Donuts are very popular and many people eat them for breakfast with coffee. Donut stores like Dunkin’ Donuts have undoubtedly made a lot of money from this dessert. Also, often promote coffee and donuts for breakfast. Although doughnuts flatter the taste buds, you have to be careful because they contain a lot of fat and calories. Nevertheless, they are very tasty, so there is no harm in eating them from time to time. Enjoy your meal.
