If you’re like me, your beauty routine is probably pretty basic. It’s great to have a go-to method for applying makeup, but I’ve found that my everyday look can start to get boring after awhile.
Luckily, it’s easy to take your makeup game up a notch without spending loads of money or dedicating huge chunks of time each day: just follow these three steps and you’ll be looking like a pro in no time!
Step One: Skin Prep
Step one: skin prep. Skincare is the foundation of any makeup look, and you want to make sure that your skin is clean and smooth before applying any makeup. Use an exfoliator to remove dead skin cells, then moisturize with your favorite lotion. If you have dry patches or an uneven complexion, use a primer first to help even out your skin tone before applying foundation. We recommend using liquid or cream foundations for easy blending; powder foundations work well if you have oily skin or live in a humid area but can be harder to blend seamlessly into the rest of your face without looking cakey.

Once your base is complete, apply concealer where needed (under eyes, around mouth/nose) then set everything with a light dusting of powder (we like translucent powders). You’re ready for step two!
Step Two: Face Basic
To complete your face, you’ll want to follow these steps:
- Prime your skin. Primers help smooth and even out the surface of your skin, so that foundation will look more natural.
- Use a foundation. Foundation is the base for pretty much all makeup looks, so it’s important that you find one that works for you. Your foundation should be in a shade similar to your natural skin tone and have some coverage, but not too much—you don’t want to end up looking like a mask!
- Conceal dark circles and undereye bags (if needed). If there are areas of discoloration on or around your eyes (like dark circles or lines), use concealer to cover them up completely. If necessary, blend with a small brush or fingers until they match the rest of the skin around them—just make sure not to go overboard since this can end up making things worse than they were before! For more subtle imperfections like redness on cheeks/nose etc., dust translucent powder over those areas instead before moving on down below where I will show how best way apply blush without ending up looking like clowns!
Step Three: Eye Mazing
Now that you’ve set your foundation, it’s time to highlight, contour and add color! You can also use this step to apply eyeliner if you want a more dramatic look.
Prime the eyes with an eye primer or concealer. This will help prevent creasing and keep your makeup from running throughout the day.
Add a base of foundation to the eyelid area using an applicator sponge or brush. Be sure to get the inner corner of each eye as well so it doesn’t look sunken in when you’re done applying eye shadow. If necessary, gently blend out any harsh lines left behind by blending with a clean blending brush.
Use concealer on any dark circles under your eyes as well as any blemishes on your face (using either fingers or a small brush). Apply sparingly—if too much product is used on these areas it will make them appear heavy instead of lightened up by brightening shades later on in this process!
